Otherwordly magic
We were a little hesitant based on some of the reviews saying they were disappointed, but we loved it. The boats were a little crowded and the pickup was a little disorganized but not too bad. The swimming spots were great, and we enjoyed the viewpoint non-swimming areas as well. The food was good and had good vegan options too. Now to the point of booking the bioluminescent tour: most of the snorkeling was done before dark,but after we ate, they took us one last time out to snorkel after dark and explained that you will see the bioluminescent plankton light up when there's movement. So the pictures where the water is all illuminated is much exaggerated but when you get in the water and move your hands to swim or just move them in front of you, the plankton light up like magic. We only had ten to fifteen minutes in the water there, I think safety reasons for all the boats in the dark, but it was worth it. It was a once in a lifetime experience and I don't regret booking this one on top of another island hopping snorkeling tour the next day, plus the islands were different.
Not worth going
I donu2019t usually go to tours because I hate the tight time schedules. This was bio luminescent swimming tour, but it was more 4-5 islands tour including 5min u201ctake picturesu201d here and there and u201cdonu2019t sit here missu201d lining up to rent snorkeling equipments, for foods, for boats, for pick ups. We were behind on schedule so the activity bio luminescent I came for was 10min! I was super dissatisfied. The boat was old and in bad condition. Rather just rent a private long tail boat so u can experience all with time.
Not the best tour, but great if you want to see the plankton
This is a very average tour, which I only did because I wanted to see the bioluminescent plankton. This part was great (you canu2019t really capture the moment with your phone camera), but there are many things that prevented me from giving 5 stars: first, the long tail boats doing this tour, which should be banned. They pollute the crystal clear waters and the air constantly, making it uncomfortable to breath, plus they are not very comfortable. The guides were not as enthusiastic and informative as in other tours I did before, but they were kind and willing to help. The snorkels provided were worn, hence not the greatest quality and we had to constantly spit on them to be able to see underwater, otherwise they got steamy. For the price of the tour I guess itu2019s ok what you receive, but I wouldnu2019t do it again.
Amazing experience snorkelling and swimming with the bioluminescent plankton.
A great experience seeing the islands near Ao Nang/Krabi. The whole day was very well organised and the food was great (vegetarian option provided). The tour guide Mon and the captain - his brother Man were super friendly and helpful! Despite the weather not being at its best on the day of the trip, they went above and beyond to make sure we had a smooth comfortable ride on the boat and a great time with plenty of opportunities for snorkelling and swimming. nThe sunset/dinner spot was breathtaking and swimming with the bioluminescent plankton was something out of this world! nI highly recommend this trip to anyone staying nearby!

Awesome Mand, his super cool brother, the sweet crew, and ALL of the staff did a tremendously amazing job! What an authentic, amazing, beautiful, freeing experience. Going to all the islands, the water, the boat ride, the scenery, the company, the people we met, and oh my - the bioluminescence was a once in a life time experience. The entire adventure was a blessing. You get taken to various islands, you get to take amazing scenic photos, you get to see beautiful fish in protected waters, the dinner was amazing - watching the sunset on the island was gorgeous, and then the finale with the luminescence was fantastic. The ride home was serene. We wanted to stop time and just take in the amazing day! If youu2019re adventurous and love nature, this experience will be perfect for you. Thank you Mand so much! We love you and your team!!! Bravo on doing a great job and giving us an experience we will never ever forget! Weu2019ll miss you guys!!!
Bad experience, poor execution!
To be honest, I wouldn't recommend this to anyone else. I felt like we wasted a whole lot of time just getting from one place to another without doing anything of essence. The organization/planning of the trip can be so much better. Massive room for improvement. Car trip from our pick up point to the first drop point was probably 30 mins, then our boat ride to an island was another 30 mins, once on the island we didn't know where to go or whom to meet, just kept following random people hoping they would lead us to the folks who had been communicating with us prior to the start of the trip, the worst part was there was NO GUIDE throughout our trip to talk to us, the one that came much later was a grumpy guy, anyway, once we found the right set of people we were supposed to be with on the island we had some barbecue (food was god awful) and then again took a trip in the boat to see the planktons (another 40 mins gone traveling without any guide to talk to at the very least), at the plankton site the person in-charge told us to go snorkel without any instructions at all, for the uninitiated (w.r.t snorkeling) this would be a complete bummer as it was for my wife and me. And do not be fooled by the display picture of the tour you absolutely do not see this kind of luminescence in the sea, you CANNOT see it at all unless you go down that water in pitch black of the night and snorkel in the middle of the ocean which was a chance only a few were willing to take. After spending 15 minutes without much to do we headed back to the pier where these guys' office was located. Here we got to see a fire show (for 15 mins) which I believe was the only enjoyable/interesting thing we got to see, the folks playing with fire were really talented and amazing! Overall a u0022mehu0022 kinda trip which was poorly planned to say the least and definitely not worth the money you pay. And oh yeah, there were no soft drinks either as mentioned in the description, a lot of things were just amiss!
The truth is...
It's not as bright as in the pictures though we saw a few u0022lonersu0022 earlier that did look like something out of Avatar. The majority though later at night, looked more like littler silver splashes in the water when you moved it and the boats around shut their lights. Still a cool experience though :)
they all tried very hard to make it a good night, just needs some fine tuning
this wa advertised for 4+ years, how ever we took two six year olds & at times we felt it was a bit unsafe for them. I would not have wanted them to be any younger or lesser swimmers. we had to manuever them across a few lonboats bobbing in the water to get to ours. We had to ask for life jackets for the children, there was only one that really fitted & none of the adults donned them even on the way back in the dark. Once you get to the island you have to climb out of the long boat & wade to shore, an older lady had a bit or trouble with this. The food was good & the sunset pretty. We really didn't know where we were to see the plankton, as there was very little explanation as to what was happening. We did have a good viewing on the way back in.

Hello everyone nnas always let's go straight to POS and NEG of this experience.nnPositives:nYou can enjoy a night swim in the warm sea under the stars and watching a beautiful sunset.nFood was good and our guide was super friendly, making jokes and making us laugh.nnNegatives:nif the night has full moon or is vey bright you are going to see almost no plancton at all. Probably it is better to do this tour when it's the breeding period otherwise you are not going to see what's pictured in the advertising.nSane goes for the sunset. If it is cloudy (like the day we did it) you can't enjoy that much
Great trip, with plankton and sunset
This was a great tour. They picked us up from our hotel, took us directly to the boat and drove around the different islands. Was a great experience. The guide was really nice and helpful, had free softdrinks and water provided. After the calming sunset we got to see plankton which was very cool if youu2019ve never seen it before. Definitely worth the wait. A great trip cause the speedboat only has space for 6 people so it was very intimate in a good and calm wayu263aufe0f .
Excellent experience
There was a slight mishap at the start of this excursion but, I must admit, Oh and his team did their very best to make up for it and did a tremendous job to coordinate such a large group.nSon was very tentative to us from beginning to end and Oh was very kind and provided a cake for my Fiancees birthday.nnOne thing to mention, the bio luminescence view was not as great on this occasion because it was a full moon. You will get a swing and a miss on this so, do not have high expectations. That said, it does still look very beautiful!nDefinitely have a waterproof action camera to capture this moment.nnThank you very much for taking care of us!
Could be so much better with if we were given some communication
Good points:n- We did get to see the plankton. It was really beautiful..but we were only allowed to swim for about 10 minutes and suddenly told that we had to get back on the boat in a mad rushn- The food was tasty, however we didn't know where or when we would be eating or if we were even queuing for food with the right tour companyn- the drive back on the boat was pretty being able to look at the stars n- The car picked us up on time nnThe bad points:n- This was the most unorganised trip I have ever been on. Somebody picked us up from out hotel, then drove us to their office. We were told to walk to the pier on our own with no other information n- Once we got to the pier, we got on a long tail boat with another person. They took us to a beach and left us. We weren't given any instructions about how long we would stay on the beach so we didnt feel like we could wander around as we weren't told any information. Everybody from our group was sat on the beach looking extremely confused and lost n- the long tail boat that took us to the larger boat for snorkelling was jam packed to almost 50 people (I counted) it was quite scaryn- when we got back to the pier for the fire show, we still didnt know where to go and it turned out that we were watching another tours fire show without realising! Luckily their tour guide told us where we needed to go so that we could get in the car back to our hotel nnI am glad I went on the trip as the bioluminiscent plankton was very amazing, but it could have been so much better if we they communicated with us and they didn't pile up the long tail boats.
Difficult to do since it involves hanging from the rope in the water and moving the other hand around.
Unless you are comfortable swimming in the deep water, it is not recommended. If you use life jacket, it becomes more difficult, since the life jacket bobs you up.nnPeople who actually did it found it quite good.
Not worth the $
We had high hopes for the tour, but overall it sadly was not worth what was charged.nnSome Highs:n- Sunset dinner on the beach was a nice touch n- The fire show was very entertaining to watchn- We did see the plankton while in the waternnSome Lows:n- I was told there was a separate vegetarian meal that included a sweet potato massaman dish to eat since my wife has a severe shellfish allergy. The only vegetarian dish was fried chicken and some chicken sausage skewern- It was like a cattle call for dinner because we combined with 2 other Mariam tour boats for dinnern- A lot of wasted time on the beach after subset. Would have been more beneficial to do the fire show on the beach while waiting to go out snorkelingn- You only have 15 minutes in the water to see the plankton, and it looks NOTHING like the picture for the tour. While in the water, you are with another tour boat and holding onto a rope between the 2 boats. There were WAY too many people and several of us, my wife and I included, were kicked in the face numerous times by other passengers. nnOverall.. I would give this tour 2 stars... compared to other tour groups we have gone on in the last 2 weeks, this by far wasted the most time and was highly disorganized. Pay the extra $$ and do the SUP tour instead.
