What You Can Expect from Overnight Maeklang Elephant Sanctuary & Inthanon Heaven Trail Hike

With this two day trip, we will visit the Maeklang Elephant Sanctuary Sky Camp and spend the night in one of the bungalows right next to the elephants. This beautiful elephant sanctuary is in Doi Inthanon National Park at an elevation of 1000 meters. The elephants roam free around the park and have lots of space to do what they love the most, eating and bathing. You will be able to feed the elephants, bathe them, and observe their daily routines. In the evening, we prepare a Thai Barbecue dinner and spend the night at the Skycamp. The elephants will come to wake you up in the morning, and you will be able to feed them their breakfast right from your bungalow window.

In the morning, you will help the mahouts with cleaning the elephant stables, planting rice, and foraging for food. After lunch at the Maeklang Sky Camp, we will continue to Doi Inthanon National Park to visit the King and Queen Pagoda’s, the highest point of Thailand, and hike the Kew Mae Pan Trail, also known as the “Heaven Trail,” because of the fantastic views. More Nature and Parks Tour From Chiang Mai.

Itinerary

• Day 1
• 07:00am – 07:30am Pick you up from the hotel in Chiang Mai Town
• 07:30am Drive into Mae Wang district around 1.5 hours through beautiful countryside, forest, and local farming areas.
• 09:00am Arrive at Maeklang Elephant Conservation Community.
• Start the day by changing your clothes followed by a quick briefing.
• Prepare the food, feed the elephants, enjoy a mud spa and bathe them.
• Enjoy a Thai lunch.
• You will have to collect the food for the elephants around the sanctuary, prepare their vitamin balls and feed them.
• Enjoy a Thai cooking experience with a BBQ party at the sanctuary.
• Spend the night in a traditional Thai house right next to the elephants with the sound of the river passing nearby.
• Day 2
• 07:00am Wake up ready to feed the elephants, on the way to have your breakfast.
• 08:00am Have breakfast together.
• After breakfast. Enjoy a quiet morning at the camp where you will do activities such as: clean elephant’s stables, finding food for the elephants, feeding them, gardening, and taking them for a bath.
• Enjoy a Thai buffet lunch at Sky Camp.
• After lunch, we drive for 30 minutes to the Doi Inthanon National Park summit.
• Please be prepared for temperatures between 10-15 degrees. Bring a jacket/sweater!
• Visit the King and Queen Pagoda.
• Hike the Kew Mae Pan “Heaven Trail” for about 2 hours. (6 kilometer)
• Visit the highest peak of Thailand.
• 05:00pm Transfer you back to your hotel. Arrive Chiang Mai city around 06:30pm
