We climb to Wat Phra That Doi Suthep past Wat Pa Lat of Doi Pui National Park on the traditional monk Trail. Our Trailhead is at 400m elevation above Chiang Mai Zoo. This well-worn trail, shaded by large trees takes you straight up the mountain and the cool air greets you just above the city. The first 30-minute segment to Wat Pa Lat is a gentle incline, a great starter walks.

In the 2nd part, we tackle steep “step-like” terrain using tree roots to ground ourselves. This is the time where we appreciate our adjustable hiking sticks. At a leisurely pace, we reach Wat Suthep after a total of 2 hrs hiking to 1100 m elevation from 400m.

After a light snack brunch at altitude, we start our 700-meter descent climbing relaxed down to Chiang Mai. Itinerary

• 07:00 am – 07:30am Pick you up from the hotel in Chiang Mai Town
• 07:30am Drive along a winding road to Doi Suthep-Pui National Park.
• 08:30am Hiking to Doi Pui Summit first by the Monk’s Trail passing Wat Pha Lat.
• 09:30am Start 2nd segment to Wat Phra That Doi Suthep.
• 11:00am Reach Wat Phra That Doi Suthep. Enjoy a complete visit to the temple and learn about its history and the meaning of the paintings on the wall, describing the life of Buddha.
• 11:30am Snacks and fruit. From the temple, you can contemplate amazing panoramic views of the city of Chiang Mai 700 meters below.
• 12:45pm Start downhill trek to Chiang Mai.
