Amazing experience on Royal Similan Islands!

Our family with two teenage sons enjoyed a day full of amazing experiences. We were pampered with a hotel pickup, breakfast at the pier and pleasant transfers between islands. Our guides were so friendly and we especially enjoyed help in finding multiple Nemos (yes!) and taking group pictures in breathtaking backgrounds. Only improvement point that comes to mind was that lunch could have been more diverse.

Sea star boat trip

Pick up on time taken to drop off and service was quick and efficient with a smile and quickly sorted into boat. Plenty of free juice tea and coffee prior to departure. Given briefing before going on boats asked about dietary and any allergies to tourists. Boat goes very quick so it can get a little bit bouncy. Stop offs were easy and staff very helpful as I have knee problems and sometimes hard to get on and off. Food at phi phi restaurant was plentiful and very tasty beach beautiful too best stop mu00e2y bay sand is unbelievable so so soft and we saw 2 baby sharks swimming along just off beach so all in all a great day out ud83dude01

10/10 Would Recommend

This is a MUST-DO experience!nEverything about this trip was 10/10!nThe canoeing was our favourite part (a local person paddles at the back for you) and the lunch from the local restaurant was delicious! nMake sure to bring sunscreen as you will burn on the boat to the island.

Excellent day, stress free trip

There was only 4 of us on the trip. It was great. Interesting boat trip through mangroves out to kayaking through limestone karsts. Then on to James Bond island. We got there and it was pretty quiet. Impressive scenery and great photo opportunities, then onto a floating village and lunch. Very relaxed and enjoyable. Then, on the way back we stopped at a temple with a reclining Buddha and plenty of monkeys to see outside of it. Highly recommend, our guide was excellent although he was a little poorly. I think his name was Ding

Great Tour Guide

Was just us on the trip and Moo was a great tour guide, taking us round the market and sharing his knowledge. He made sure we were well looked after throughout the day with drinks and kept us entertained. The Waterfall was beautiful and lots of fish, the little amazon was a bit Disneyland ish but still good to see the birds. Hot springs was a highlight- so quiet and a great way to destress.

Great day tour! Well organized.

We had a great day out, the canoeing and long boats were excellent. James Bond Island was crowded, but our guide took us through with no problem. The Muslim village was interesting, but the lunch buffet was with a ton of other groups buffet style, and mediocre food at best. Bring some good snacks. Our guides and boatmen were all attentive and we felt safe.

Run fast away from this tour.

First off the tour explanation was completely inaccurate. We did not leave from Royal Phuket Marina. We drove an hour more past that pier to the area where the boat left. We left Khao Lak at 6:10 and arrived at the boat 3 hours later. It was awful. The traffic is horrendous. Then we had to drive back which was another 3 hours. None of this was mentioned in the tour details. Then the tour did not follow the itinerary and stay at short time at snorkeling but stayed a very long time an a very small and very congested and excessively load little cove so that some guests could ride a long tail boat to get a selfie. I think they should have called this an instagram tour. Everyone wanted to get selfies. The itinerary not being had nothing to do with the fluctuation of the tides. The area was so crowded that it was the most unpeaceful trip I have ever experienced. This tour is nothing was not as it was described. I am very disappointed and sad that I choose this tour.

Cattle Market

This is a cattle market and the Islands are crammed full of tourists ruining the natural beauty of the place .nThe speed boat journey is noisy and the fumes in the harbour add to the discomfort - the place should be managed better or tourists banned altogether to protect the islands and the coral .nThe place is just for tourists to be ripped off - and the Thai government should intervene and regulate the place - please do not go , itu2019s just like a cattle market - avoid like the plague

Some things to keep in mind

The water at Similan Island reminded me of Western Australiau2019s nicest beaches, and the snorkelling areas were fantastic! nnJust some things to keep in mind, the u2018Speed Catamaranu2019 was about 50+ people crammed onto a very tight fitting and enclosed boat. You are required to have all of your belongings, aswell as your flippers, snorkel, towels, and life jackets either on your lap or somehow at your feet if you are lucky enough to be small enough to have room. nThere were no fans inside and unfortunately with such a large number of people in such muggy conditions when the boat wasnu2019t at full speed it was extremely sweaty and hot inside the boat. Unfortunately for us there was also a very large amount of young kids who screamed and cried the entire time. nWe booked this as a couple wanting a quiet cruise around the islands, not exactly what we got however this is no doubt the case with most cruises around the islands, as there were dozens of boats leaving the harbour at the same time. The water, beaches, sea life and swimming did compensate for it to a significant degree.nnWe saw thousands of fish, even a few turtles which we got to swim with for a while. Really nice sea life, and the staff were very capable of looking after some of the others who couldnu2019t swim at all. They were towed around the snorkelling spots with floating devices. nnThe organisation of the whole day was 10/10, from snorkels and fins, to food, to water supply, to departure times, lunch, and drop off back to the hotel. nn

Really worth the effort to see

Off the main tourist route but so worth the effort going. Truly beautiful day on the lake with hikes in the jungle, swimming, caving all with a friendly, knowledgeable guide/ boatman. Lunch in the lake and there are packages where you can stay overnight at the lake cabins

Worth in planning to see this great area of Thailand.

Really fun with a lot of adventures to choose from. We really enjoyed to lake and the town. It was interesting seeing the rubber tree groves and, as always, the people are so friendly. A bit of planning to visit but weu2019ll worth it

Not for us - awful trip

No reflection on SeaStar as they all worked very hard and were all very helpful and friendly but this trip was NOT for us!! nnLike other reviews we felt we were all being herded like cattle, put into groups. It felt like a school trip with a packed catamaran, with no room to move! Photos taken at the start like being at an aquapark - really tacky I am sorry to say!nnLots of people with selfie sticks taking photos sitting in trees and on the rocks but with 100 people in the background - it didn't make any sense to me!nnSeeing all the people getting off the boats onto these stunning beaches was a bit heart-breaking; we looked like ants and the people screaming & jumping off the top desk while we were all trying to enjoy snorkelling was a joke. One child face flopped and really hurt herself, so she spent the return journey in a lot of pain! nnSuch a long day to then return to the Seastar hub and have to wait for people to eat the free food was torture! We just sat in the minibus for 45 minutes and was hoping the others from our resort would do the same, so we could make it back for sunset at least, they didn't they just waited there until 5:10 until I asked the driver to go get them.nnThis is not a negative for Seastar as clearly some people like these kinds of trips and as I mentioned the staff were great, it was just not for us (family of 4 from the UK)nnIf you can do this trip privately it would be better but then you would still have to put up with all the Seastar boats and hundreds of people!n

You really learn to cook thai

nwe spent a wonderful evening in the outdoor kitchen. first we visited the market where we bought lots of fresh ingredients. We were also able to try delicious desserts there. Then we went to the great kitchen and cut all the ingredients for our nine dishes. Everything was so simple that even our children had no problems preparing it. Once everything was prepared, we started cooking. All children were allowed to cook with a wok themselves. All dishes were delicious and fresh. Since we love Thai cuisine, we decided to try a lot of curries.

Great day but small boat.

Great day. Very well organised and very friendly and attentive staff. Boat very small for the number of people. Absolutely no room to move around or store your things . Everything on your lap. Also, window line above your head so cannot see anything.

Overall good

The trip was amazing and crew were very funny and looked after us. The only think I have to say is that for the amount of time we spent on the boat to go snorkeling was longer than I had expected. We also came from Khao Lak and the car ride itself took almost 3 hours which we were not expecting as it's not really explained anywhere. Overall the its worth seeing the sites

Good trip but donu2019t waste your money on the 2nd floor.

The day for the most part was fun. I do wish it was noted when purchasing tickets that if you purchase the 2nd floor of the catamaran and pay extra for the second you donu2019t actually get to sit up there when going to the islands which are over an hr away. You are stuffed in the 1st floor with everyone with no air flow so make sure you grab a handful of Dramamine if you get even a little sea sick. They have them there like itu2019s candy. Just in jars everywhere. Which is helpful. You can only go up to the 2nd floor when youu2019re not moving but when you are not moving you are snorkeling or swimming or chilling on the beach so you donu2019t actually use the 2nd floor and anyone can go up there. They donu2019t check your tickets. So pointless to spend the extra money for something you will never use. Everything else was good. Ocean was beautiful the rock formations were beautiful and the beach was beautiful. It did seem a little rushed and thereu2019s always a tone of ppl so hard to get good photos without some person walking through it but we still managed to get some. I would definitely bring water shoes. The last beach getting on the boat was rough. The tide went down so the boat couldnu2019t get close to the beach. Sow we had to walk about 20-30 ft into the ocean with rough waves coming in and sharp rocks. Got knocked over and cut my foot open. They took your sandals at the beginning of the trip so you donu2019t have them with you.
