This is a must

What an experience. We had a private tour that we arranged with a taxi and driver. We was dropped off near the location and given clear instructions on where to go and return. We noticed there was a board up in one of the shops giving the time of the train arrival and departure. Sadly we did have enough time to actually do train ride as well but just experience the train coming on tracks and how the market traders react and move their wears about. We sat on nearby track and had a cold drink each. Then ordered some snacks and yet another drink. When the train is due the tables are collapsed and have a framework they sit in and customers are encouraged to stand up into the restaurants off the tracks. Suddenly you hear the train coming all the market traders pull their goods in and protect the tourists. This was just an amazing experience. Highly recommended

Mass tourism at its worst. Hundreds of tourists behaving stupidly trying to get selfies as the train approaches. Need to limit

Too many people. Stupid behaviour from tourists as they try to get a selfie as the train approaches. Lovely place great to see the train gently manoeuvre through the market but need to limit tourist numbers as the place is being destroyed by mass tourism.

Train and River Tour

The pick up point for the train should be scheduled at a nearer departure point. By the time the train got to us there was no seating available. We had to stand for half our plus to our final destination. The drop off point, MBK Center, was a nightmare for pickup at that time a day. My Grab was not even allowed in to the pick up point. I had to go hunt him on the street. Bus should return travelers back to the original pickup point. The tour itself and locations were fun and informative.

Fantastic experience with great tour operator

We had a great day , and the tour operator ( Sun Country Tours ) was fantastic. The bus was very comfortable and our tour guide for the day was well organised , friendly and great fun. Very well run operation, especially in comparison to other experiences that we had in Bangkok. It was a little disappointing that the tour did not return us to our starting point as noted in our itinerary, and we had to find our own way back to River City to get a transfer back to our accommodation. This was the best run tour that we went on whilst in Bangkok

One of a kind markets

Guide Ari was exceptional- very informative and helpful. View was limited thru train market due to small windows on train. But was worth the experience. No time to really look around. Floating market was fun and interesting. Very different from anything we have ever done. Would do this one again for sure. Fun buying from merchants and buying refreshments from other boats on the water. A floating community.

Fun time

We had a wonderful time. Had lunch at the floating market, which was fresh and inviting. Boat ride was good. We were on hand propelled, more realistic, and slower. Good shopping to be had. Maeklong railway was very interesting. It's fascinating to see how the store operators change their stalls when the train comes and leaves. Good day's adventure.

Better than I expected…….

Our guide Kwan was very informative and helpful along the way. She made sure we all knew where to meet and what time. It all went to clockwork. Enjoyed the day immensely. Better than my expectations. The train and boat ride were highlights. Driver did a great job too. Would highly recommend. The tour was at a great pace and there was no rushing.

Great experience

Interesting place to be... Roughly around 1 hour + from Bangkok via taxi. Booked Grab and driver offered his service to go back to Bangkok for 1000 bath. Which I find its fair, as he waited for us almost 4 hours ++, initial fare from Bangkok to Maeklong was 780 bath Came at noon so that we can catch the 1430hrs train passing the market. At the market, lots of souvenir to buy. Most tours offers morning but I was told around 3+, most shop are going to close thus shopkeepers are willing to bring down the prices since there are less tourist. Which is very true. Bought dried mangoes and fruits Roughly 100 bath off for each packs and even the commemorative t shirt goes at a lower price without bargaining. Prior to trains passing the market, we bought cool smoothies and we allowed to stay in the shop with "priority" best views while non customers have to line up outside the shops within the safe zones... Fun and interesting experience for everyone... And yes, the passing train is within arms length from the shops... The locals shopkeepers are very friendly and very accommodating. They even offer us to try the goods that they sell.
