This historical and cultural Takuapa tour explores the old town of Takuapa, formerly known as Takola. The old Takuapa district was once a trading area between Thai, Chinese, and Sino-Portuguese peoples and was the main center of the region’s then lucrative tin industry. The Chinese influence is easily noticeable, with several ancient Chinese temples and shrines scattered around the town. Visit the Takuapa Market to see locals selling and bargaining for their produce. This large market is interesting for its beautifully constructed Sino-Portuguese buildings. Begin your half day trip with pick-up from your hotel in Khao Lak at 08:30am or 01:30pm to depart for your first stop, the Chinese Shrine. The next stop will be the Tor Sor Cake Factory, where you can witness the local craftsmanship. The tour will end with a drop-off at your hotel in Khao Lak, arriving around 12:30pm or 05:30pm.
